Former Deputy President and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Hon. Johana Ngeno, was denied access to State House by powerful political actors and certain media, limiting his opportunities to meet top leadership.

Gachagua shared the information on social media as mourners gathered in Emurua Dikirr for Ngeno’s burial.

In a heartfelt tribute, Gachagua described Ngeno as a courageous and selfless leader who dedicated his life to the welfare of the Kipsigis community.

“Death has robbed Kenya and the gallant Kipsigis people of a brave, focused, and brilliant leader,” Gachagua wrote.

He added that Ngeno was a “political soul mate” whose commitment to his community remained unshaken despite numerous obstacles.

Gachagua claimed that Ngeno faced repeated isolation and humiliation from powerful individuals, whom he described as “strongmen, mafia, and pretenders to the throne.”

On multiple occasions, Gachagua said he had to intervene to prevent further embarrassment for Ngeno, who was physically denied access to State House.

The former Deputy President also expressed frustration over what he called hypocrisy among Ngeno’s persecutors.

“I have seen those who hunted him like an antelope shedding crocodile tears and pretending to mourn his death,” he stated.

Gachagua indicated that this hypocrisy influenced his decision not to attend the burial, citing principles that prevent him from sitting alongside those who tormented Ngeno in life.

Beyond politics, Gachagua highlighted Ngeno’s efforts to champion the development of Emurua Dikirr, noting that the Kipsigis community had long suffered neglect despite being agriculturally productive.

He praised Ngeno’s fight for improved roads, electricity, and water access, and his resolve to empower educated youth in leadership positions.

Gachagua concluded his tribute by sending condolences to Ngeno’s family and the people of Emurua Dikirr.

“May Almighty God give your young family comfort and fortitude as they come to terms with this untimely loss,” he wrote.

He also called for the emergence of another brave leader to continue Ngeno’s work, referring to him as the “hero of our time” and “the Kingpin” of the Kipsigis community.

The burial of Hon. Johana Ngeno comes amid widespread mourning, with local leaders and constituents reflecting on his political legacy and commitment to community service.
