President William Ruto has hailed the inaugural graduation of the National Intelligence and Research University as a historic milestone in strengthening Africa’s intelligence and security capacity.

In a message shared on social media after presiding over the ceremony as Chancellor, the Head of State congratulated the institution on its first graduation ceremony, describing it as the beginning of a new era in the continent’s pursuit of excellence in intelligence, research, and national security.

The pioneer cohort comprised 31 master’s degree graduates drawn from Kenya and several African countries. Ruto described them as trailblazers whose achievement lays a firm foundation for future generations of intelligence professionals.

He noted that the graduates had undergone rigorous training designed to equip them with the skills necessary to anticipate emerging threats, generate strategic insights, and guide nations through an increasingly complex global environment.

According to the President, intelligence officers play a critical role in safeguarding national stability and supporting informed decision-making.

He emphasized that the graduates now bear a solemn responsibility to protect their respective countries while strengthening regional peace and cooperation.

Ruto urged the new professionals to anchor their service on integrity, professionalism, patriotism, and an unwavering commitment to peace and stability across Africa.

He emphasized that ethical conduct and discipline remain central to building public trust and effective security institutions.

The National Intelligence and Research University was established to enhance professional training and research in intelligence studies, security strategy, and regional cooperation.

The institution also aims to promote collaboration among African states in addressing transnational threats such as terrorism, cybercrime, and organized crime.

The graduation ceremony marks a significant step in building a skilled intelligence workforce capable of responding to emerging risks while strengthening cooperation across the continent.
