Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has predicted a youth-driven political upheaval in the 2027 General Election, claiming growing frustration among young Kenyans will culminate in a decisive electoral shift against President William Ruto’s administration.
In a statement shared on X, the outspoken legislator said his travels across the country had exposed deep frustration among young people struggling with unemployment, rising living costs and limited economic opportunities.
"I have moved around the country , met young people , seen their desperation of life challenges in their own country, the Republic of Kenya; and I confirm their incredibly strong urge to see a better managed government," he stated.
He argued that the youth are increasingly united by a desire for better governance and accountability.
Amisi dismissed the notion that established opposition figures would be responsible for removing the current administration from power.
"Verily verily I say unto you, broadbased government will not be removed by Gachagua nor Kalonzo nor Matiangi nor Sifuna nor Caleb nor Babu nor maraga nor Okiya nor Natembeya. Ruto government will be sent packing by Gen Z ballot revolution. Their silence now is a ticking missile that will blow in June 2027," he added.
He named prominent leaders including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, insisting none of them would be the driving force behind political change.
Instead, he forecast what he termed a “Gen Z ballot revolution,” suggesting the silent majority of young voters will mobilize and express their dissatisfaction through the ballot in June 2027.
According to the MP, the current quiet mood among the youth should not be mistaken for apathy but rather a buildup of political energy.
His remarks come amid growing national debate over the cost of living, unemployment, taxation, and governance reforms — issues that have sparked protests and online activism largely driven by young Kenyans in recent years.
While Amisi’s prediction reflects sentiments echoed in youth-led civic movements, political analysts note that voter turnout, coalition-building, and party structures will ultimately determine the 2027 outcome.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is expected to outline the electoral roadmap closer to the polls.
