Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has shared details of a family meeting hosted by her elder brother, ODM party leader and Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Odinga, describing it as a calm and unifying moment for the Odinga family amid heightened public attention on their internal affairs.
In a statement shared on social media, Ruth said she spent a “peaceful Sunday with family,” praising Oburu for his guidance and role in keeping the family together.
Her remarks come at a time when statements by various Odinga family members have sparked public discussion about unity, leadership, and the family’s political future.
Dr Oburu Odinga has in recent weeks publicly emphasised cohesion within the family, urging members to remain focused on shared values and collective responsibility.
He has framed internal conversations as private matters, while maintaining that unity remains central to both family and public life.
Raila Odinga Jnr has also weighed in, confirming that the family has been holding consultations to strengthen internal understanding.
He has stated that such meetings are normal and necessary for a family that remains deeply involved in national affairs, adding that differences of opinion should not be mistaken for division.
Winnie Odinga, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative, has similarly dismissed claims of family rifts.
She has publicly affirmed her respect for Dr Oburu Odinga and described the Odingas as a close-knit family capable of resolving issues through dialogue.
Winnie has argued that open discussion within the family reflects maturity rather than conflict.

Political observers note that the family’s public emphasis on unity comes against a backdrop of broader political conversations within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the opposition space.
The Odinga family has long been influential in Kenya’s political landscape, making their internal dynamics a subject of public interest.
Ruth Odinga’s message appears intended to reassure supporters that, despite differing views, the family remains united and grounded, choosing dialogue and mutual respect as it navigates both personal and public responsibilities.
