Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has celebrated the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) clean sweep in Thursday’s by-elections, underlining voter confidence and urging elected leaders to focus on service delivery.

The mini-polls were held on February 26, 2026, to fill one parliamentary and three county assembly vacancies across the country.

In Isiolo South Constituency (Isiolo County), UDA’s Mohammed Tubi secured a decisive victory with 7,352 votes, far ahead of his closest rival Bina Mohammed of the Jubilee Party, who garnered 634 votes.

Independent candidate Isaack Fayo finished with 44 votes. The seat became vacant following the death of former MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu in November 2025, and the contest drew national attention because it featured a rare sibling rivalry.

At the county assembly level, Evurore Ward (Embu County) saw Duncan Muratia Nyaga of UDA win with 7,853 votes, defeating candidates from the Democratic Party and independent contenders.

In Muminji Ward (also in Embu), Peterson Njeru clinched the seat with 3,207 votes, overcoming challengers from other parties. Both seats were open after their previous incumbents resigned to contest the November 2025 parliamentary by-election.

In West Kabras Ward (Kakamega County), Elphas Shalakha of UDA won with 3,317 votes, outpacing his closest rival from the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

This contest was closely watched in Western Kenya, seen as an indicator of UDA’s influence beyond its traditional strongholds.

In a statement released Friday, Mudavadi praised the party’s candidates, volunteers, and campaign teams for their efforts in securing the wins, emphasizing that the victories reflect the collective voice of the Kenyan electorate.

“This win belongs not just to the candidates, but to every voter who turned out with confidence, to every volunteer who walked the ground, to every mobiliser who knocked on doors, and to every supporter who believed in our vision,” he said.

Mudavadi also commended the wananchi for their high turnout, describing it as a demonstration of the power of democratic participation.

He highlighted the discipline, energy, and resilience of UDA campaign teams, saying their dedication has strengthened Kenya’s democracy and affirmed public trust in the party’s agenda.

The prime CS urged party members and leaders to pivot from campaign activities to service delivery.

“Let us now shift from campaigns to delivery. The mandate is clear, and service to the people begins immediately,” he said, signaling an expectation for elected representatives to prioritize community needs and tangible development projects.
