Former Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has shared a candid reflection on his experience engaging with Kenyans on social media, describing the online space as a lively arena filled with diverse voices, sharp criticism, and unexpected lessons.

In a post published on his Facebook page, Kibicho likened the platform to bustling streets, saying the more time he spends there, the more he learns.

He observed that some users treat the space like a full-time occupation, waking up early to comment and actively participate in discussions.

“Hustle ni hustle even online,” he noted, admiring the consistency and energy of regular contributors.

The former security official also pointed to what he termed a common online mindset where some individuals hold firm views regardless of evidence.

He said the experience has taught him to focus on engaging audiences willing to listen, while ignoring those uninterested in dialogue.

Kibicho addressed criticism directed at him due to his past role in government, noting that some users believe he carries responsibility for both real and imagined failures of previous administrations.

Others, he said humorously, have already “allocated” him accommodation at Kamiti Maximum Prison.

He also revealed that some comments drift into personal matters, while others are openly rude or insulting.

Despite this, Kibicho said he does not block or delete offensive remarks, choosing instead to leave them visible.

“The comments remain — a permanent record of character. Kila mtu ajionee,” he wrote.

Kibicho concluded by expressing appreciation for the interactions, including those delivered with intensity, describing the online environment as vibrant and educational.

“These streets are lively and I am enjoying the lessons,” he said, adding that the journey of engagement is still ongoing.
