Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sharply criticized the Inspector General of Police (IG) for failing to appear and deliver a report on the violent attack at ACK Giitima Church, describing the absence as a deliberate defiance of constitutional obligations.

In a statement posted on X, Kalonzo said his team had formally requested a comprehensive report and the arrest of those responsible for the attack, emphasizing that the demand was not optional but a constitutional requirement.

“The Inspector General and his entire team failed to appear, despite formal notification. Their absence was not accidental; it was a calculated choice,” he wrote, highlighting what he termed a pattern of institutional silence and inaction.

Kalonzo tied the police’s inaction to a broader pattern of state repression, citing recent incidents in Kitengela where Senator Edwin Sifuna and other leaders were teargassed during a peaceful rally, leaving two citizens dead and several others injured.

“These were unarmed citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble. This is not policing; IT IS STATE-SPONSORED REPRESSION,” he stated.

The Wiper leader asserted that no political directive or office places anyone above the Constitution, warning that continued refusal to act on the church attack reflects a deliberate strategy to shield perpetrators and normalize impunity.

“The police service exists to serve the people of Kenya, not to intimidate them. The law must apply equally to all,” Kalonzo said.

He confirmed that the Wiper Party, together with the United Alternative Government, will return on Friday, February 20, 2026, to demand accountability, noting that they may mobilize public support if impunity persists.

Kalonzo framed the issue as a fight for constitutional democracy, stressing that citizens must collectively defend their rights.

“The lawlessness will only be confronted by the collective action of citizens who refuse to surrender their democracy. Kenya must remain a nation governed by law, not by fear,” Kalonzo wrote, urging unity in defense of the Constitution and freedoms.
