Nairobi County Executive Committee Member for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has thrown his weight behind upcoming boxer Mbavu “the Destroyer” as he prepares for a crucial bout against Majembe Majembe scheduled for April 4.

Mosiria revealed that he has officially enrolled the boxer in an intensive, fully sponsored training programme aimed at sharpening his skills and boosting his chances of victory in the highly anticipated contest.

The support, he said, is part of a personal commitment he made earlier to help nurture young sporting talent.

“Like I promised earlier to support Mbavu Destroyer, today we met and I have officially enrolled him in a one-month intensive training program to prepare for the upcoming competition,” Mosiria said.

He added that the boxer will train under an internationally recognised coach and gain access to a well-equipped gym to enhance his fitness, strength, and discipline.

According to Mosiria, the preparation will run for more than a month and a half, covering all professional needs ahead of the April showdown.

He stressed that the goal is not participation but victory, expressing confidence that structured training and focus will give Mbavu the edge.

“We are going to prepare for nothing less than victory. With proper training, focus, and determination, he will perform well and make us proud,” he said, confirming that the entire training programme is fully funded.

Mosiria’s message struck a patriotic and motivational tone, blending English and Swahili to rally support for the boxer. “Ni uchungu sana Mbavu Destroyer akishindwa, lakini Majembe ajue hii tumeshinda.

Mbavu ni tatu,” he wrote, a phrase that has since resonated widely among boxing fans online.

Beyond the ring, the Nairobi CEC framed the support as part of a broader youth empowerment agenda.

He noted that many young people are working hard to make a name for themselves but often lack the financial and institutional backing needed to unlock their potential.

“Mayouth wanajituma sana hapa nje, and sometimes what they truly need is just empowerment and the right support to nurture their talents,” Mosiria said.

He argued that investing in sports goes beyond trophies, helping build discipline, confidence, and long-term opportunities.

The CEC further linked sports development to wider social and economic benefits, including employment creation and positive community impact.

He maintained that when young athletes succeed, they inspire others and open doors for future generations.

Mbavu Destroyer is set to face Majembe Majembe in what is expected to be a physically demanding bout that has already generated buzz within local boxing circles.

With professional coaching now secured and training costs covered, expectations are rising ahead of the April 4 fight.

As the countdown begins, Mosiria has pledged to continue supporting Mbavu’s journey, positioning the initiative as an example of how leadership, mentorship, and timely support can change the trajectory of young Kenyan talent.
