Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President and Democy for thr Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua joined ODM party leader Dr. Oburu Odinga on Friday to condole with Senator Agnes Kavindu and former Senator Johnson Muthama over the sudden death of their only son, Moses Muthama Nduya.
The gathering, held at the family residence in Mua Hills, brought together political leaders from across party lines in a rare display of unity despite ongoing political disagreements.
Kalonzo described the loss as a moment of profound sorrow for both leaders and their entire family, emphasizing the pain of losing an only child.
Speaking after the visit, he said Moses “was their pride and joy, a young man full of promise, purpose, and dreams for the future,” adding that his memory “will remain a source of strength and comfort even in this season of deep mourning.”
Kalonzo was joined by Gachagua, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr, Reverend Dorcus Rigathi, and several other leaders in offering prayers and support to the family.
Gachagua, part of the united opposition with Kalonzo, also extended condolences, praying for strength for the family and expressing sympathy to the people of Machakos County.
He noted that the presence of leaders across party lines reflected shared concern beyond political rivalry.
Dr. Oburu Odinga, who has recently been at the centre of tensions with Wiper Party over Azimio One Kenya Coalition dynamics, also attended the condolence visit.
The meeting came after Oburu criticized Wiper Party for allegedly pushing changes within the coalition and warned of potential ODM withdrawal, highlighting the ongoing friction within opposition ranks.
Also present were prominent Wiper leaders including Hon. Robert Mbui, Hon. Patrick Makau, Hon. Edith Nyenze, Hon. Jessica Mbalu, Hon. Kivasu Nzioka, Hon. Joshua Kimilu, Sen. Dan Maanzo, Hon. Stephen Mule, Hon. Julius Mawathe, Sen. Karungo Wa Thang’wa, Wiper Party Deputy Organising Secretary Muriuki Ndwiga, local MCAs from Machakos and Kitui counties, and other political aspirants and youth leaders.
Their presence reflected broad support for the grieving family.
While Kalonzo and Gachagua represent the opposition pushing for a united front, Oburu continues to steer ODM towards engagement with the ruling coalition, showing that political priorities remain divided even in moments of personal solidarity.
