The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two men accused of running an online scam involving fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2025 result slips, as authorities move to protect the integrity of national examinations.
The suspects, identified as Albert Kerry Nyadianga and David Opiyo, alias G.O.A.T, were arrested in separate operations in Kisumu and Ongata Rongai.
According to the DCI, the arrests followed a targeted investigation after counterfeit KCSE result slips began circulating widely on social media platforms.
Investigators say the two allegedly used online groups and forums to entice candidates and parents with claims that they could alter or “upgrade” KCSE grades in exchange for money.
The posts, presented as insider services, drew attention from law enforcement due to their growing reach and misleading nature.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Opiyo, described by detectives as the key organiser, is a primary school teacher.
He is said to have administered a large online group dubbed “KCSE 2025 Grade Upgrading,” which attracted tens of thousands of followers.
Police say he was also linked to several other digital forums associated with claims of examination manipulation.
A search conducted on the suspects’ mobile phones uncovered images of forged KCSE result slips and related examination material, which investigators believe were used to deceive the public and solicit payments.
The two remain in police custody as they undergo processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
In a warning to the public, the DCI, working closely with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), reiterated that KCSE results are secure and cannot be altered by third parties.
Detectives say investigations are ongoing to identify additional suspects involved in the scheme, as the crackdown on examination fraud intensifies.
