Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai has accused a Nairobi County CEC of fleeing to Uganda following the collapse of a building in South C on Friday morning, which left several people dead and others injured.
Speaking on X, Alai alleged that the building had been approved through corrupt practices, claiming that bribes were exchanged to bypass safety regulations.
According to the MCA, Chief Officer Patrick Analo went into hiding in Uganda late Friday night, anticipating that authorities would delay action and that public attention on the tragedy would quickly fade.
“After causing death in Nairobi through the illegalities he commits in the Planning Sector, Chief Officer Patrick Analo sneaked into Uganda last night to hide from authorities for the next one week, knowing that the issue will have died down,” Alai wrote.
He further claimed that a “compromised” Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) would overlook the case, enabling the official to evade accountability.
The MCA’s allegations have sparked outrage on social media, with Kenyans demanding urgent investigations into both the building collapse and the alleged negligence by county officials.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over building safety and regulatory oversight in Nairobi, where illegal constructions have previously led to fatal accidents, raising questions about enforcement and accountability in the county’s planning sector.
