Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has launched a sharp attack following a high-profile meeting in Nigeria involving former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The meeting, which took place in Lagos on the sidelines of the Future Africa Leaders Awards 2025, has drawn political attention in Kenya amid ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Uhuru Kenyatta and Kalonzo Musyoka were among senior African leaders attending the forum chaired by Obasanjo, with Uhuru delivering a keynote address focused on youth leadership and governance.
Reacting to the engagement, Kaluma accused Uhuru and Kalonzo of misleading the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whom he referred to as “Baba.”
In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, the ODM lawmaker claimed the two leaders “conned and wasted Baba until he died,” and accused them of attempting to destabilise the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) through political inducements.
Kaluma further addressed Obasanjo directly, asserting that Odinga left behind a clear political direction for ODM.
According to the MP, Raila’s “will” was for the party to remain aligned with President William Ruto under the Broad-Based Government (BBG) arrangement beyond 2027.
“Their efforts to rock ODM by throwing Uhuru’s coins here and there have failed,” Kaluma stated, distancing the party from any perceived opposition manoeuvres linked to the Nigeria meeting.
The remarks highlight deepening divisions within Kenya’s opposition ranks, as senior political figures continue to position themselves amid shifting alliances and succession debates.
