President William Ruto on Tuesday reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Italy, emphasizing shared interests and mutual respect between the two nations.
In a statement on X, Ruto said his discussions with Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Vincenzo Del Monaco, at State House Nairobi focused on expanding cooperation in strategic sectors.
“We are keen on deepening our cooperation in priority areas to advance shared prosperity and deliver tangible benefits to our people,” he noted.
Key areas of collaboration highlighted include support for Kenya’s coffee and leather value chains, sectors crucial for boosting exports and creating employment opportunities.
The leaders also explored partnerships in developing technical training colleges aimed at equipping Kenyan youth with practical skills for the modern economy.
Ruto further underscored the importance of accelerating pending bilateral projects, including the commencement of the Itare Dam project, which is expected to enhance water supply and irrigation in key agricultural regions.
The discussions come as Kenya seeks to strengthen international partnerships that promote economic growth and sustainable development.
Ambassador Del Monaco reiterated Italy’s commitment to supporting joint initiatives that benefit both nations, particularly in trade, technical education, and infrastructure.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to translate diplomatic relations into tangible development outcomes, particularly for Kenyan farmers, youth, and communities reliant on infrastructure projects.
