Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya on Tuesday hosted a strategic meeting with his colleague, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Mohamed Mvurya, alongside Sirisia MP John Waluke, to discuss the implementation of the National Youth Opportunities and Talent Activation (NYOTA) programme.
During the courtesy call, CS Oparanya emphasized the importance of NYOTA as a platform for nurturing youth talent, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering inclusive economic growth.
The discussions focused on the programme’s rollout, expected impact, and preparations for the upcoming Meru regional tour, aimed at engaging local youth and entrepreneurs.
“Our engagement reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to empowering youth and supporting enterprise development through coordinated and people-centred interventions,” CS Oparanya stated.
He highlighted that NYOTA remains a key pillar under the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which prioritizes equitable access to opportunities and economic inclusion.
CS Mvurya commended the collaborative efforts, noting that programmes like NYOTA are critical in creating sustainable pathways for youth participation in the economy, especially in creative industries and sports.
MP John Waluke also expressed support, stressing the need for local engagement to ensure the initiative reaches its intended beneficiaries.
The meeting marks a continued effort by the Government to strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation, with a focus on enhancing youth skills, entrepreneurship, and access to opportunities.
The Meru tour is expected to showcase success stories, provide mentorship, and accelerate enterprise growth, reinforcing Kenya’s vision for inclusive economic transformation through youth empowerment.
The NYOTA programme, launched nationally, aligns with ongoing reforms aimed at integrating youth into mainstream economic planning while fostering innovation and self-reliance.
