Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has expressed concern over ODM’s recent move to enter a pre-coalition agreement with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Once DCP defected from UDA, UDA became the smallest party in the country. That’s why ODM needs to be careful not to be swallowed, bought, or misused,” Maanzo said.
He stressed that the party’s reputation as a defender of justice and fairness is at stake.
“A lot of Kenyans have hope in ODM’s fight for justice in the country. It cannot lose what it was formed for because of people like Ojienda, who walk in to be elected and then walk out.”
The senator’s remarks come amid heightened speculation about the strategies parties are adopting in preparation for 2027.
Maanzo’s caution reflects broader worries among ODM supporters who fear that pre-election deals could undermine the party’s long-standing mission.
Maintaining voter trust, Maanzo argues, should remain a priority for ODM, even as it navigates the complex landscape of pre-election coalitions and shifting political loyalties.
