Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has sounded the alarm over internal tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), warning that emerging political formations and internal conflicts could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In posts on X, Amisi accused ODM of sponsoring youths to attack key party figures, including himself, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

He described these actions as a distraction from meaningful political strategy and a threat to party cohesion.

Amisi also highlighted the formation of new parties by former ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and Ugenya MP David Ochieng, suggesting that ODM faces increasing competition in the opposition space.

He noted that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is steadily making inroads into ODM’s traditional strongholds in Nyanza and Western Kenya.

The Saboti lawmaker urged senior ODM leaders, particularly Dr Oburu Odinga, to exercise restraint and respect the legacy of party leader Raila Odinga.

He cautioned that early succession battles and aggressive mobilization could damage the party’s foundation well before the 2027 elections.

Amisi further argued that President William Ruto benefits from a divided opposition, stressing that fragmentation weakens ODM’s influence.

He questioned the current relevance of other opposition parties, including Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress, in the evolving political landscape.

His statements reveal rising concerns within ODM over leadership strategy, party unity, and the threat posed by new political entrants, as Kenya’s political dynamics continue to shift in the lead-up to 2027.
