Khorela Ward resident and aspiring MCA Nuru Okanga has spent his day on the ground, helping build a house for a widow and an elderly woman in the village, reinforcing his message that leadership begins with practical action.
In posts shared on social media, Okanga said the initiative was made possible through the support of friends and well-wishers who believe in his vision for the ward.
He framed the effort as part of a broader commitment to service, rather than a one-off charitable act.
Okanga noted that for him, leadership is not about promises or speeches, but about showing up when people need help the most.
By focusing on housing for vulnerable members of the community, he said he was responding directly to everyday challenges faced by residents in Khorela.
The initiative also comes as Okanga positions himself ahead of the 2027 general election, where he hopes to contest the Khorela MCA seat.
He openly linked his community work to his political ambitions, saying he trusts that the people of Khorela will judge him based on his actions and give him a chance to serve them.
While no formal campaign has been launched, his message suggests an early attempt to connect grassroots service with leadership aspirations.
Okanga said he is relying on faith and continued support from the community as he moves forward.
For now, he maintains that the focus remains on the work itself.
As he put it, the journey continues, with service at the centre and politics following behind.
