Popular social media personality and television presenter Kai on Tuesday revealed that his car was involved in a minor road accident, adding his voice to growing concerns over road safety during the extended festive travel period.

In a brief statement shared online, Kai blamed the incident on what he described as careless driving by a truck operator.

He said the impact left his vehicle damaged and forced it to be taken to a garage for repairs.

While he did not disclose the exact location or time of the accident, the presenter clarified that no serious injuries were reported.

“A very careless truck driver akaniharibia gari imebidi ishinde garage itibiwe,” Kai said, expressing frustration over the incident.

The accident comes at a time when road safety remains a major public concern, with authorities warning that the risk of crashes often remains high beyond December and into January.

Increased traffic volumes, long-distance travel, fatigue, and lax observance of traffic rules have been cited as key factors behind the spike in accidents during this period.

Kai, who commands a large following across social media platforms, used the incident to caution drivers to exercise restraint and responsibility on the roads.

He urged motorists, especially drivers of heavy commercial vehicles, to be mindful of other road users and to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.

Road safety experts have repeatedly pointed out that trucks and other heavy vehicles are often involved in serious accidents due to speeding, improper overtaking, or mechanical faults.

Even minor collisions involving such vehicles can result in significant damage, particularly to smaller cars.

The National Transport and Safety Authority has continued to call for vigilance among motorists, noting that enforcement operations are ongoing on major highways and urban roads.

Police have also warned that reckless driving, drunk driving, and vehicle overloading remain key causes of crashes reported during the festive season and early January.

Kai’s experience has resonated with many of his followers, several of whom shared similar encounters on Kenyan roads.

The incident has renewed calls for stricter enforcement and greater personal responsibility as travel remains high at the start of the new year.
