Murang’a County police have dealt a major blow to violent crime in the region after arresting four notorious criminals in a coordinated early morning operation.
Officers from Murang’a Police Station, working with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), tracked and apprehended the primary suspect at a hideout on the outskirts of Kenol Town in Murang’a South Sub-County.
The operation quickly led to the arrest of three more individuals in Ichagaki, Maragua.
The suspects are alleged to have carried out a string of violent robberies across Murang’a and surrounding areas, frequently assaulting victims with machetes during their attacks.
Police recovered several items linked to the suspects’ criminal activities.
Among the seized items were three motorcycles—one reportedly used in robberies, and two believed to have been stolen.
Other items recovered include multiple mobile phones, a machete, a knife, a Maasai rungu, a crowbar, and two television sets.
The four suspects remain in police custody pending arraignment as investigations continue.
Authorities have assured the public that all leads are being followed to dismantle any remaining networks involved in violent crime.
In a statement, the National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to public safety. “The arrest of these individuals demonstrates our determination to ensure that Murang’a residents live without fear of violence,” the statement read.
Residents have expressed relief at the arrests, citing months of anxiety over repeated robberies and assaults in their communities.
Law enforcement officials encouraged the public to continue providing information to help identify and apprehend other criminals operating in the county.
This operation is being hailed as one of the most significant crime busts in Murang’a in recent months and is expected to deter similar criminal activity in the area.
