On what would have been former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s 81st birthday, ODM Communications Director Philip Etale urged party leaders to unite and work towards strengthening ODM.

He framed the day as a moment to reflect on the party’s journey, its struggles, and the challenges it has overcome since its founding.

In his message, Etale stressed that the best way to honour Raila is through action.

“Today, as we celebrate his first birthday posthumously, I beseech all of us in the great party of ODM to reflect on the journey we have walked, the challenges we have faced, the difficulties we have overcome, and the obstacles we have subjugated,” he said.

He added that this reflection should inspire members to make ODM stronger, more united, and prosperous than ever.

“This will be the only best gift we shall have given him, and he will rest peacefully. Together, we shall make ODM better,” Etale affirmed.

The communication chief’s message focused on internal solidarity, urging party leaders and members to recommit to the principles Raila championed throughout his political career.

He positioned the occasion not just as a tribute, but as a call to action for all ODM members to safeguard the founder’s vision.

Etale’s rallying cry comes at a time when the party is navigating a post-Raila era, reminding leaders that unity and commitment to the party’s mission are central to maintaining its influence in Kenyan politics.

By emphasizing reflection, action, and cohesion, Etale set a clear agenda for ODM as it moves forward, signalling that the late leader’s legacy will continue through the efforts of those he inspired.
