Police in Kilifi County have recovered a large cache of suspected narcotics and arrested two individuals following a tip-off from the public.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on X, officers from Langobaya Police Station conducted an operation yesterday, 27th January 2026, in Chakama Township, Langobaya Division.
The search of a local shop led to the seizure of 220 rolls and 9 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa, which had been concealed in a steel box.
Two suspects were taken into custody during the operation and are being held pending arraignment in court, where they will face charges related to narcotics possession and trafficking.
The recovered items have been secured at the police station as evidence.
The DCI lauded members of the public for their cooperation, noting that community tips play a vital role in disrupting drug-related activities.
“We commend the alertness of the community and urge continued vigilance,” the statement read.
The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to combating narcotics across the country, emphasizing that such operations are part of a broader strategy to safeguard communities from the dangers of illegal drugs.
Authorities are calling on anyone with information on narcotics activities to report to the nearest police station or contact the DCI through official channels.
