A Kenyan woman has taken social media users down memory lane after sharing a candid and humorous account of how she met her mzungu lover online, a story that has since sparked wide reactions on Facebook.
In a post marking their first anniversary month, the woman narrates how an ordinary comment on a friend’s photo unexpectedly became the beginning of a love story.
She says she had always been active on social media, known for dropping hearts, positive comments, and playful engagements, without thinking much of it.
That one comment, however, caught the attention of a mutual friend identified as Guero. Curious, he clicked on her profile and found energetic videos of her dancing, unapologetically and loudly.
While initially puzzled by her confidence, he followed her page out of curiosity.
Over time, Guero watched as her content shifted from dancing to working in the studio, training makeup students, and eventually volunteering to bring smiles to cancer survivors at Kenyatta National Hospital.
That, she says, was the moment he saw beyond the fun videos and decided to message her.
For nearly a year, his polite messages on Facebook Messenger went unanswered as she focused on her life and TikTok content.
It was an accidental Messenger call pickup that changed everything. She recalls being instantly drawn to his soft, calm, and respectful voice, describing it as comforting and sincere.
Two months later, Guero flew into the country to meet her. Although fear almost kept her away, encouragement from a friend pushed her to attend their second meeting attempt at a Nairobi hotel.
When they finally met, she says the connection was immediate and effortless.
The woman admits she initially kept the relationship private due to gossip and assumptions common on social media. But she eventually chose to live and love openly.
“When a woman finds her safe place,” she wrote, “she does not whisper it.”
