Suna East MP Junet Mohamed is facing mounting political pressure after fresh accusations emerged over the handling of funds meant for Azimio agents during the 2022 General Election.
The controversy has intensified internal tensions within the ODM party, with several leaders linking the alleged mismanagement to Raila Odinga’s electoral defeat.
The allegations were reignited when ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna publicly accused Junet of misappropriating money intended for agents.
The claims have since drawn criticism from multiple quarters, including former Azimio chief agents, who argue that failures in agent facilitation contributed to the coalition’s loss.
In response, Junet issued a statement denying any wrongdoing. However, his explanation has done little to calm the storm, with party insiders and political commentators weighing in on the matter.
Political strategist Pauline Njoroge added her perspective through social media, noting that Junet “swallowed a coconut” and is going through a very tough moment.
Her remarks reflect a growing sentiment among observers that the MP is under intense scrutiny amid the ongoing allegations.

A section of ODM leaders has called for restraint, urging members to avoid public confrontations that could weaken the party’s unity.
They emphasized the need for internal mechanisms to address disputes and warned that prolonged infighting could distract the party from its broader political agenda.
As the debate continues, attention now turns to how ODM will handle the fallout and whether formal investigations will be launched into the claims surrounding the 2022 campaign funds.
For Junet, the coming weeks will be critical in determining both his political standing and his role within the party.
