Adani whistleblower Nelson Amenya has reignited public debate after alleging that Kenyan televangelist Prophet David Owuor misled followers over claims that the Brazilian government gifted him a private jet during a mission to South America.
Amenya made the allegations in a series of posts on X, disputing widely circulated reports linked to Owuor’s 2018 revival visit to Brazil.
At the time, media reports quoted Rio de Janeiro State legislator Rosenverg Reis as saying the government had honoured Owuor with a Bombardier Learjet 45 to support his global evangelism.
The reports claimed the aircraft was gifted following a revival mission hosted by Reis, who served as a state deputy in the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro.
Amenya, however, dismissed the account as fabricated. He claimed the jet was not a government gift but a privately hired aircraft used temporarily during the Brazil visit.
According to Amenya, photos shared online at the time were allegedly sourced from the internet and presented as evidence of a gifted jet, including claims that the aircraft was ex-military.
“This was also not true,” Amenya wrote, alleging that the narrative was deliberately constructed to mislead the public.
He further claimed that an individual working at the African Development Bank played a role in engineering the story, though he did not provide names or documentary proof to support the allegation.
Amenya also suggested that some individuals with knowledge of the facts have remained silent, while online defenders of the prophet are unaware of the alleged details.
His claims have sparked renewed scrutiny on social media, with Kenyans sharply divided between supporters of Owuor’s Ministry of Repentance and Holiness and critics calling for accountability.
