Kenyan content creator Eddie Butita has expressed regret over missing the chance to meet popular American streamer and YouTuber iShowSpeed, who is currently visiting Kenya, citing an overwhelming work schedule.
In a statement shared online, Butita said he was disappointed that he could not create time for the highly anticipated meeting despite repeated attempts to rearrange his commitments.
He noted that iShowSpeed had shown interest in meeting him during the visit, making the missed opportunity even more painful.
“I’m actually sad because iShowSpeed is in Kenya. He really wanted to meet me, but unfortunately I’m a busy man and my schedule has refused completely,” Butita said.
Butita emphasised that the decision was not deliberate and described the situation as frustrating, given the significance of the moment for Kenya’s digital content space.
He said the meeting would have been a positive cultural exchange and a highlight for local creators, especially as iShowSpeed’s visit has drawn attention to Kenya from a global online audience.
The comedian and creative director also apologised directly to the visiting streamer, asking fans who might encounter iShowSpeed to pass along his message.
“If you see Speed, just tell him I tried my best, but schedule said no,” he said, adding that he considers himself a humble person and did not intend any disrespect.
He expressed hope that there would be another opportunity to connect in the future and promised to make it up to the streamer when time allows.
