The death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo in a road accident has sparked intense speculation, with journalist Jerome Ogola weighing in on social media about theories surrounding the tragedy.
Ogola highlighted claims suggesting that Jirongo may have been deliberately killed, alleging that a “powerful” figure could have influenced investigative agencies to cover their tracks.
He further referenced a popular theory linking the death of a “torch” to the swift demise of a killer, suggesting that if a prominent Kenyan were to die shortly after Jirongo, it could point to foul play.
Despite these theories, official investigations paint a different picture.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that they had interrogated drivers and conductors from both the crashed bus and the rescue vehicle, while statements from seven passengers had also been recorded.
The DCI claimed to have examined amateur videos of the incident, contradicting earlier suggestions that no visual evidence existed.
Meanwhile, Jirongo’s ally, Khaniri, said the family had engaged a private investigator to dig deeper into the circumstances of his death.
He also questioned the official pathology, noting that Jirongo’s injuries did not align with typical accident patterns, raising doubts about potential compromises in the medical investigation.
He called for public disclosure of any findings from the private investigator or ongoing inquiries, emphasizing that the search for truth should not be halted.
As Kenyans continue to debate the circumstances of Jirongo’s death, the social media discourse underscores the demand for clarity and accountability in high-profile cases.
