Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and his wife were reportedly taken by surprise in the middle of the night during a daring operation by United States security forces, according to journalist and historian Levin Odhiambo Opiyo.
Opiyo revealed that the couple, fearing for their safety amid rising threats to Maduro’s leadership, had relocated from their usual residence to a fortified home within a military base.
“According to new details, President Maduro and his wife were deep asleep at their home inside a military base when the raid began,” Opiyo said.
Unbeknownst to the Venezuelan president, the CIA had been closely monitoring his movements, gathering intelligence that would facilitate the operation.
At midnight, Delta Force, the US military’s elite special missions unit, launched a targeted assault on the compound.
Sources indicate that the team swiftly overpowered the security detail and extracted the president and his wife directly from their bedroom.
Following the operation, Maduro and his wife were transported by a US military helicopter to a jet bound for New York, marking a dramatic escalation in US-Venezuelan tensions.
Analysts say the mission demonstrates the increasing reach of US intelligence and military capabilities in executing high-profile operations abroad.
