Popular and controversial blogger Maverick Aoko has officially announced her intention to run for the Nairobi Women Representative seat, vowing to focus on slum communities and vulnerable women.
In a statement shared on social media, Aoko urged voters to “vote wisely… vote nonstop Tea,” adding that her leadership will prioritize practical support for Nairobi’s marginalized women.
She promised initiatives aimed at providing sanitary pads for girls in informal settlements and support programs for widows.
Highlighting the unique challenges of the Women Representative role, Aoko noted that the position does not receive County Development Funds (CDF), urging citizens to make informed decisions.
“Bora kutumia akili… on my mother’s life, I pledge,” she emphasized, signaling a personal commitment to the cause.
Aoko’s entry into the race adds a fresh and unconventional voice to Nairobi politics, where her outspoken style and social media presence have previously sparked both admiration and controversy.
