Political activist Nuru Okanga has accused President William Ruto of betraying former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, citing past political agreements and recent appointments.
He argued that Raila never recommended his wife, Ida Odinga, for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) ambassadorial role, a position Ruto recently offered. Okanga said this can be confirmed by ODM Secretary-General Edwin W. Sifuna.
Okanga also criticized the government for failing to compensate families of Gen Z activists and other Kenyans who lost their lives during protests.
“To date, not a single Kenyan has been compensated,” he stated, describing the handling of these issues as a betrayal by political elites, including Kasongo, whose actions he labeled “truly a betrayer.”
He did not provide details on the groups involved but suggested the moves were politically motivated.
