Barely hours before his state funeral at Nyayo Stadium, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s body was quietly moved to Parliament in a secretive operation that few knew about.
Sources say a highly confidential meeting started at 10pm on October 16, where a small team of senior officials and select staff planned every step.
The body reportedly arrived at Parliament around 5am on October 17, under tight security, before being taken to Nyayo Stadium for the national funeral service.
Officials involved said the secrecy was necessary to prevent potential chaos, recalling the Gen-Z protests that once disrupted Parliament.
One official admitted the operation was so hush-hush that even family members weren’t informed until much later.
“At that hour, you couldn’t trust anyone with such information,” the source said.
The covert move highlights the lengths authorities went to balance security and public interest while giving Raila the historic tribute his long political career deserved.
