UDA Deputy Secretary-General Daniel Ole Sambu Dies, Ruto and Party Officials Pay Tribute

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced the passing of its Deputy Secretary-General, Daniel Ole Sambu, marking a significant loss for the party’s leadership and grassroots operations.

Ole Sambu died on Tuesday, leaving behind a legacy of organizational work that strengthened UDA’s political structures across Kenya.

President William Ruto, in a message on X, described Ole Sambu as a devoted and patriotic leader whose wisdom and insight will be missed.

He highlighted the late official’s reputation as a skilled grassroots mobiliser and commended his commitment to “mature and progressive politics” within the party framework.

UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar Hassan also released a statement mourning the loss, emphasizing that Ole Sambu was a “strong pillar” of the party.

Hassan noted that the late Deputy Secretary-General’s strategic guidance and dedication were instrumental in expanding UDA’s presence from local constituencies to the national stage, reflecting his deep engagement with Kenya’s electoral landscape.

Ole Sambu’s contributions came at a critical time for UDA, which has been consolidating its political machinery ahead of the next general elections.

As Deputy Secretary-General, he played a central role in mobilising supporters, organising party activities, and coordinating grassroots campaigns in line with Kenya’s multi-party political system.

His work strengthened UDA’s organizational capacity in counties traditionally considered electoral swing regions.

Party leaders and members have expressed solidarity with Ole Sambu’s family, pledging support during this period of mourning.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and the UDA fraternity,” President Ruto stated, urging Kenyans to acknowledge the late leader’s service to the party and the country.

His death comes at a time when political parties in Kenya are actively positioning for influence ahead of 2027 elections.
