Social media activist Francis Gaitho has reacted strongly following National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s revelation that he was among the last people to meet the late Lugari MP, Cyrus Jirongo, shortly before his fatal accident.

In posts on X, Gaitho expressed concern over Wetang’ula addressing the circumstances of their meeting, which reportedly occurred at a recent event.

He urged the funeral committee to remain vigilant and avoid being swayed by narratives he described as manipulative.

“It would be profoundly disrespectful to allow Wetang’ula or any current government officials to speak at the funeral and address the mourners,” Gaitho stated.

He added that proxies of President William Ruto from both Kenya Kwanza and ODM should not be permitted to offer insincere condolences, particularly if their political alignment contradicted Jirongo’s principles during his lifetime.

Gaitho specifically called on Senator George Khaniri and the funeral committee to enforce these boundaries, emphasizing the importance of preserving the dignity of the late MP’s send-off.

Jirongo, a controversial yet influential political figure, passed away earlier this month under circumstances that have sparked national debate.

His death has drawn responses from politicians across party lines, with some using social media to pay tribute, while others, like Gaitho, have criticized what they consider politically motivated interventions.
