President William Ruto has mourned former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, who died in a road accident on Saturday morning.
The President confirmed the news in a statement shared on social media, describing Jirongo as a close friend and an influential figure in Kenya’s political and business spheres.
In his message, President Ruto said he was deeply saddened by the loss, noting that Jirongo’s death marked the end of a life defined by resilience, ambition, and public service.
He extended his condolences to Jirongo’s family, friends, and associates during what he termed a difficult moment.
“Jirongo was a relentless go-getter, a seasoned businessman, and a consummate politician who refused to be defined, let alone defeated, by life’s challenges,” President Ruto said.
He added that the former MP was known for his bold leadership style and willingness to take firm positions on national issues.
The President also highlighted Jirongo’s personal qualities, describing him as generous and supportive to those around him.
According to Ruto, Jirongo was always willing to uplift others by offering his time, resources, and encouragement, traits that earned him respect across political divides.
Cyrus Jirongo was a prominent political figure who represented Lugari Constituency and later remained active in national political discourse.
Beyond politics, he was widely known for his involvement in business, where he built a reputation as an entrepreneur with broad interests. His career placed him among a generation of politicians who shaped Kenya’s multiparty era.
