Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has predicted a strong showing for President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election, particularly in the Mt Kenya region.
His remarks followed a church service in Gatundu North on Sunday, where an AIPCA bishop assured the president of the region’s support. Ruto attended the service as part of his ongoing engagements in Central Kenya.
In a statement posted on X, Alai said he had already projected Ruto’s dominance in Mt Kenya months earlier.
He stated that the president would secure at least 60 per cent of the vote in the region during the next election. Alai noted that he first made the prediction in October 2024.
The MCA also criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, questioning his political influence in the region.
Alai described Gachagua as a “paper tiger” and accused him of relying on divisive messaging. He claimed such politics were causing discomfort even among Gachagua’s own supporters.
Alai portrayed President Ruto as a leader focused on national unity. He said the president was working to build a country that includes all communities.
According to Alai, this approach is resonating beyond traditional political strongholds.
The comments came as political messaging increasingly finds its way into religious spaces.
Clergy statements during church services, especially in Mt Kenya, have drawn public attention in recent months. Some leaders view such forums as influential platforms, while others urge caution over mixing faith and partisan politics.
Mt Kenya remains a key battleground ahead of 2027, with leaders closely watching shifts in public sentiment.
President Ruto has maintained a visible presence in the region since taking office.
