President Mahama Praises Kenya’s Role in Africa After Gracing Jamhuri Day

Ghana’s  President John Dramani Mahama hailed the close ties between Kenya and Ghana during Jamhuri Day celebrations, where he attended as chief guest at President William Ruto’s invitation.

The event, held on December 12, marked Kenya’s 62nd independence anniversary. Mahama described his visit as a “testament to our bond of brotherhood” and expressed Ghana’s solidarity with Kenyans.

He paid tribute to the sacrifices of independence leaders, saying their friendship continues to bind the two nations. 

“The friendship between our independence leaders remains an enduring flame that continues to bind our two nations together in a spirit of Pan-African unity,” Mahama said.

The former Ghanaian president also stressed the need for African countries to add value to their exports and secure fairer shares of natural resources. 

He called for accountable leadership and urged African governments to harness the creativity of young people.

Mahama praised Kenya’s active role in the African Union and other international bodies, wishing the country continued success.

President Ruto welcomed Mahama, highlighting the historic links and mutual respect between the two nations. 

The celebrations featured cultural performances, official ceremonies, and reflections on the shared history of independence movements.
