Social media activist Francis Gaitho has launched a blistering attack on ODM leaders, accusing them of naively believing they could benefit from President William Ruto’s handouts without paying a heavy price.

In a fiery post, Gaitho described the party’s top brass as “political and ideological prostitutes” who underestimated the cost of cozying up to Ruto.

“Fat chance—nothing comes free from him. The bill is always steep, paid in brutal installments: crippling interest or outright sacrifice,” he wrote.

The activist singled out the Odinga family, noting how their iconic leader was “systematically dismantled and lost,” and how efforts to position Oburu Odinga as interim successor were allegedly amplified by loyal bloggers, including Robert Alai.

Gaitho further claimed the party is now drowning in internal strife, with mourners, condolences, and backroom maneuvering dominating both family and party affairs.

He also called out ODM politicians who, in his view, are double-dipping—benefiting from government perks while still playing opposition rhetoric.

“This is the ugly anatomy of a once-mighty 20-year-old party’s slow cannibalism; factions tearing it apart from within over the Ruto pact,” Gaitho wrote.

To amplify his warning, he launched the hashtag #ODMDiesAt20, which has since gone viral, with supporters and critics debating whether the party’s collapse is imminent or just political theatrics.

Gaitho’s post comes shortly after President Ruto publicly encouraged ODM to consider forming an alliance with UDA ahead of the 2027 elections, a move he described as necessary for national unity.

For Gaitho, however, the offer is far from benign—it’s a high-stakes game that could redefine Kenya’s political landscape and further fragment the opposition.

As tensions simmer, all eyes are on ODM, a party whose two-decade-long legacy now faces its most severe internal test yet.
