Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has outlined plans to modernize Nairobi’s central business district if elected president in the future.

Speaking on X, he pledged to introduce a fully automated electric train system aimed at easing congestion in the city.

He cited examples from cities he visited, including Rabat and Casablanca in Morocco, London in the United Kingdom, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, and several cities in the United States, noting their success in implementing electric rail networks.

“I will make sure our Nairobi CBD is fully automated with electric trains to avoid the traffic challenges I observed in other cities,” he stated.

The MP said the initiative would not only reduce traffic jams but also improve public transport efficiency and cut down on pollution in the capital.

Details on funding, timelines, and implementation strategies are yet to be released.
