Former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia delivered a heartfelt tribute to late politician Cyrus Jirongo on Saturday during a memorial service at CITAM Church, Valley Road.
Speaking to mourners, Kisia described Jirongo as a “great friend” whose presence would be deeply missed.
Raising his hand towards Jirongo’s casket, he expressed both sorrow and admiration for the late veteran politician, wishing him peace in death.
“Cyrus, I will miss you, and if the Lord is the one who has called you, then go in peace,” Kisia said, his voice carrying through the packed church.
However, the former town clerk’s remarks took a solemn turn as he addressed the possibility of human involvement in Jirongo’s passing.
“If there is anyone involved and if there is a human hand involved, let otherwise happen to you,” he declared, issuing a pointed warning to anyone suspected of playing a role in the late politician’s demise.
The emotional moment underscored the deep bonds Jirongo shared with colleagues and friends across Kenya’s political and civic landscape.
Kisia’s tribute was among several delivered by notable figures, each highlighting the late politician’s fiery presence in national politics and his unwavering commitment to public discourse.
Jirongo’s memorial drew a diverse crowd, reflecting his influence and the polarizing figure he remained in Kenyan politics.
Kisia’s remarks, blending grief with caution, left attendees reflecting on both the personal loss and the controversies that often surrounded the late politician.
The service concluded with prayers for Jirongo’s soul and calls for justice and accountability, mirroring the complex legacy he leaves behind.
