Lieutenant Kelvin Kiso served as the Colour Officer during the Jamhuri Day parade on Friday, 12 December, overseeing the ceremonial display of the Kenya Defence Forces’ (KDF) regimental Colours.
The KDF said the Colour Officer is responsible for the custody, preservation, and ceremonial handling of the Colours, which represent the honour, traditions, and esprit de corps of the military.
“All drills and procedures involving the Colours are executed with precision and strict adherence to protocol,” the statement noted.
Leading the Colour Party, Lieutenant Kiso worked closely with parade commanders to ensure flawless execution of ceremonial standards.
His duties included safeguarding the Colours and maintaining the discipline and dignity expected during the national event.
The regimental Colours are symbolic banners representing the achievements and heritage of KDF regiments.
Their display during Jamhuri Day parades honours Kenya’s independence while showcasing military tradition and discipline.
