Family members of Evans Mwaura Githua, CEO of Nairobi-based ICT firm Com Twenty One Limited, have described a growing sense of worry in the hours leading to his death, which police are investigating as a suspected suicide.
Githua, 51, was found dead on December 23 behind Alba Apartments along Kasuku Road, after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of a short-stay apartment where he had checked in alone the previous night.
Relatives told police they grew concerned when Githua did not return home on Monday and attempts to reach him on his mobile phones failed.
According to family members, it was highly unusual for him to be unreachable, as he typically maintained regular contact.
Police later discovered Githua’s body in a locked apartment, noting injuries consistent with both a fall and self-harm.
Investigators recovered personal effects, including mobile phones switched to flight mode, medication, alcohol, and other items, suggesting preparations linked to self-harm.
Family members described the news of his death as shocking, emphasizing that Githua had recently secured major business contracts and had not exhibited signs of stress or distress that might have hinted at such an outcome.
Authorities are treating the death as a suspected suicide, pending post-mortem results. The body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigations.
Com Twenty One Limited, where Githua served as CEO, is a prominent ICT solutions provider with a client base including public institutions and private organizations across Kenya.
