A jubilant atmosphere filled the DCI Headquarters on Monday as Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed I. Amin, returned to Kenya following his election as Africa’s Delegate to the INTERPOL Executive Committee.
The historic win, secured at the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech, Morocco, on November 27, 2025, positions Kenya at the forefront of global policing leadership.
Mr. Amin’s appointment underscores the nation’s growing role in international security and law enforcement cooperation.
Upon arrival, Amin was greeted by senior DCI officials, including Deputy Director John Onyango, who praised his decades of dedicated service and leadership in national policing.
“This achievement is a reflection of Director Amin’s unwavering commitment and excellence,” Onyango said, welcoming him back to Nairobi.
Amin’s career has spanned years of high-profile criminal investigations and organizational reforms within the DCI.
His new role at INTERPOL will see him representing African interests on matters of global law enforcement, international crime prevention, and cross-border security collaboration.
The DCI has described the achievement as a source of national pride, emphasizing its potential to inspire young officers and enhance Kenya’s visibility in international policing forums.
“We are celebrating not just a leader, but Kenya’s place on the world stage,” the DCI statement read.
Director Amin expressed gratitude to his team and the Kenyan public for their support, pledging to uphold the highest standards of integrity and service in his new capacity.
The DCI confirms that Mr. Amin will commence his duties at INTERPOL immediately, representing Africa in ongoing strategic discussions and decision-making processes at the global policing body.
