Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo shocked many with his bold business moves, and now Philip Kisia has spilled the details. During Jirongo’s requiem mass on Saturday, Kisia revealed how the late politician personally secured a major corporate credit deal in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2023.

Kisia said that in October 2023, Jirongo wanted to break into the DRC business scene and asked him to arrange meetings with top officials, including President Félix Tshisekedi. But things didn’t go as planned.

“We were to schedule a meeting between his delegation and myself to meet President Tshisekedi. But I took too long using formal channels, and Cyrus became impatient,” Kisia said.

True to his style, Jirongo didn’t wait for the bureaucracy to catch up. Instead, he struck a bold move—meeting the president’s mother and chatting with her in Kiswahili.

The personal touch worked wonders.

“The next thing I saw was Cyrus signing an MOU with President Tshisekedi at State House in the DRC. I failed flat using formal channels, but Cyrus got it done,” Kisia recounted, highlighting Jirongo’s fearless and unconventional approach.

Jirongo’s knack for cutting through red tape and relying on personal diplomacy cemented his reputation as a man who got things done—no matter the rules.

His audacious move in the DRC is now being remembered as a signature Jirongo moment, blending guts, charm, and strategy in true business mogul style.
