Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has commended Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for visiting the Odinga family home in Bondo, where he paid his respects at the grave of the late Raila Odinga.
In a statement on X, Kabando described the visit as a thoughtful and strategic tribute that reflected deep respect for Raila’s legacy and his family’s contribution to Kenya’s political journey.
“Kalonzo’s visit to the Odingas is a necessary and strategic homage in celebrating Agwambo,” Kabando noted, referring to Raila by his popular nickname.
He added that the moment captured the spirit of friendship and solidarity, especially in a country grappling with political divisions.
“The words shared by Mama Ida, Raila Odinga Junior, Ruth Odinga, and James Orengo reassure a nation yearning for urgent redemption,” Kabando said.
The former legislator, known for his independent stance on national issues, said Kalonzo’s gesture demonstrated leadership beyond politics.
According to him, it was a symbolic acknowledgment of Raila’s lifelong fight for democracy, justice, and inclusivity.
Kalonzo’s visit to Bondo on Thursday has continued to attract attention across the political spectrum.
His message of gratitude to the Odinga family and tribute to Raila’s legacy was seen by many as a unifying gesture in a period of national reflection.
Kabando’s endorsement added weight to that interpretation, suggesting that the visit was more than ceremonial—it was a reaffirmation of shared ideals and mutual respect among reformist leaders.
He emphasized that such acts of recognition were vital in keeping the spirit of democracy alive.
Kalonzo, in his message, had described Raila as an enduring symbol of sacrifice whose courage helped shape the democracy we are proud of today.
