Kenyan gospel singer Betty Bayo has died after a prolonged battle with cancer, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fellow artistes and fans across the country.

Gospel musician Daddy Owen was among the first to share the news publicly, posting an emotional message on his Facebook page on Sunday evening. In his tribute, he described Bayo as a “vessel of grace” whose music and ministry deeply touched the lives of many.

“Rest in peace to one of our own, Betty Bayo. Our hearts are deeply broken by this loss. Betty was more than just a voice in the Gospel industry, she was a vessel of grace, a woman who poured her soul into every song and inspired countless lives through her ministry,” Daddy Owen wrote.

He went on to express condolences to Bayo’s family, friends, and colleagues in the gospel community. 

“May the God of all comfort surround you with His peace during this difficult time. Though Betty has departed from this world, her voice will continue to echo in our hearts,” he added.

Bayo had been privately battling cancer for several years, though she remained active in her faith and music ministry. 

Known for her powerful worship songs and humble spirit, she was a beloved figure in Kenya’s gospel scene and had a loyal fan base that admired both her music and her resilience.

Her death has left a deep void in the gospel fraternity, with messages of condolence flooding social media platforms.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by her family in the coming days.
