Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has dismissed reports that her brother, ODM leader Raila Odinga, collapsed during a morning walk earlier this week.
Speaking on Wednesday evening, Ruth clarified that the 80-year-old former Prime Minister was in good health and had only complained of fatigue during the routine exercise.
She said the incident occurred while they were staying at a resort ahead of their planned return on Thursday.
“We were not even at the hospital, we were just at a resort where we were staying ahead of our return on Thursday,” she stated. “He was just okay, he was doing his normal walk and we were supposed to come back tomorrow (Thursday).”
Ruth, who was part of Raila’s entourage, explained that the opposition chief did not collapse as earlier reported.
She said he simply felt tired and decided to sit down for a brief rest before medical help was sought as a precaution.
“He didn’t collapse. He just said he was feeling a little tired and sat down. We thought it was just fatigue from the walk and then called for an ambulance," Raila said.
Her clarification came amid widespread reports suggesting Raila had been rushed to hospital after collapsing during his morning exercise.
The news had caused anxiety among his supporters, many of whom took to social media to express concern over his health.u
