Police Arrest Two Suspects, Seize 877 Rolls of Cannabis in Umoja Operation

Police officers in Nairobi have arrested two suspects and seized 877 rolls of cannabis sativa during a targeted operation in Umoja One.

The Wednesday evening raid was part of a broader crackdown on narcotics within the city.

According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

The officers from the Nairobi region reportedly acted on intelligence before intercepting the suspects in possession of the illegal substance.

“The operation led to the recovery of eight hundred and seventy-seven rolls of cannabis sativa in Umoja One,” NPS said on X. “The suspects were placed in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court.”

The police service commended the team involved for their vigilance and commitment to the ongoing fight against drugs and illicit alcohol.

Authorities also urged members of the public to continue supporting anti-narcotics efforts by reporting any suspicious activities within their communities.

Drug trafficking and abuse remain a major concern for law enforcement across the country, with police intensifying operations in urban estates such as Umoja, Kayole, and Dandora.

The recent arrest adds to a series of ongoing efforts to dismantle supply networks of banned substances in Nairobi.

The two suspects are expected to face charges related to possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs under Kenya’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act.
