Pauline Njoroge, Jubilee deputy organising secretary and political strategist, has rejected social media claims that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is preparing to join President William Ruto’s administration.
On X, Njoroge said the rumours spread after Wiper’s National Delegates Conference and called them baseless, asking why Kalonzo would abandon the united opposition at a moment when his presidential prospects are strongest.
Njoroge framed her response around the outcome of the Wiper NDC, which she described as successful, and said the event strengthened Kalonzo’s standing inside the opposition ahead of the 2027 contest.
She argued that supporters of the broad-based government had been living in denial as they circulated suggestions that Kalonzo would be “taken mararoundi State House” or join Ruto following contacts by other political actors.
Highlighting Kalonzo’s regional reach, Njoroge listed Mt. Kenya, Ukambani, Kisii, parts of the Coast, Western regions, and segments of the Maa community as the basis for a solid opening balance that could underpin a serious presidential bid.
She asked rhetorically what incentive the Wiper leader would have to move to the government side and what Ruto could possibly offer him.
Njoroge used a pointed line to underline her view of Kalonzo’s position, saying: “Kalonzo is not a man who will trade his inheritance for a morsel of bread.”
The remark has been shared widely on social media and picked up by local outlets reporting on the post.
Public reaction has been mixed, with some users mocking the rumours and others continuing to speculate about shifting alliances as key players test options ahead of 2027.
Njoroge’s statement reinforces a wider theme in current Kenyan politics: rumours about defections are common but often serve more to test public perception than to signal actual realignments.
