Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has publicly criticized allies of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following their response to his proposal for collaboration.
Kuria had offered to work with Gachagua on the condition that he ceases to insult women leaders from the Mt Kenya region.
In a post on X, Kuria expressed disappointment over the reaction from Gachagua's "kitchen cabinet."
He stated, "After my offer to work with our self-declared kingpin on condition he stops insulting women leaders, this is how his kitchen cabinet has responded to my offer for unity of our region."
Kuria further criticized Gachagua for surrounding himself with individuals he described as "idiotic lumpens, neophytes and rookies," contrasting them with past leaders like Jomo Kenyatta, Mwai Kibaki, and Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kuria's initial message acknowledged Gachagua's growing influence in the region, referring to him as the "undisputed kingpin."
However, he emphasized that such status should be accompanied by respectful conduct, particularly towards women leaders.
He urged Gachagua to refrain from insulting leaders in general and women leaders in particular, stating that such behavior was inconsistent with his position.
The call for unity has elicited responses from various political figures. Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa criticized Kuria's approach, accusing him of attempting to divide the region by sending emissaries to undermine Gachagua.
Speaking at an opposition rally in Kirinyaga County, Senator Karungo remarked, "Sasa hivi Kasongo amepanic. Na ameanza kutuma watu wetu wa mlima kuja kutugawanyisha," suggesting that Kuria's actions are part of a broader strategy to weaken Gachagua's influence.
