Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called for restraint amid growing online speculation about ODM leader Raila Odinga’s health.
Her remarks came after X influencer Kibet Bull posted, “Kenyans are DCI, they unmasked the hospital that Raila Odinga was hiding,” alongside a photo alleged to show the opposition leader in a medical facility.
The post fueled claims that Raila could be hospitalized in London, following his recent absence from public appearances.
Responding on X, Passaris dismissed the claim and criticized the tone of such posts.
“I didn’t know hospitals were hiding grounds. Zooming in on an image isn’t rocket science,” she wrote.
“If Baba is unwell, my prayers are with him; may God grant him healing, long life, and continued favour. May God also grant you and KOX wisdom to know where to draw the line.”
Her comments came shortly after Raila’s communication team clarified that the former Prime Minister is out of the country on private engagements.
The statement, issued on Sunday, dismissed the health rumours circulating online, urging the public to ignore what it described as misleading reports.
Raila, who has been out of the public eye for several weeks, has not personally addressed the matter.
His office on Sunday issued a statement revealing that the ODM party leader was out of the country and private engagements.
They also downplayed reports of him being sick.
