Faith Odhiambo Congratulates Claris Ogangah on Appointment as KNCHR Chairperson

The President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Faith Odhiambo, has congratulated Claris Awuor Ogangah on her swearing-in as the new Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).

In a statement shared on X, Odhiambo praised Ogangah’s appointment, describing it as an opportunity to serve the nation at a critical time.

She said the position demanded total commitment to defending constitutionalism and advancing the protection of human rights in Kenya.

“We congratulate Ms. Claris Awuor Ogangah on her swearing in as the new Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. The opportunity to serve the nation in such an important role and at such a consequential time for the country imposes a duty to abandon all else in pursuit of constitutionalism,” Odhiambo stated.

She expressed confidence in Ogangah’s ability to lead the commission with integrity and distinction, noting that KNCHR has long been regarded as the primary defender of human rights in Kenya.

“Kenyans have enjoyed the benefit of the KNCHR maintaining its sacrosanct place as the primary defender of human rights. We are hopeful that your leadership will only enhance that spirit and take it to greater heights,” she added.

Ogangah’s appointment marks a new chapter for KNCHR, which plays a key role in monitoring, investigating, and advising on human rights issues across the country.

The commission has often been at the forefront of advocating for justice and accountability, particularly during elections and national policy reforms.

Her leadership is expected to steer the institution through ongoing debates on human rights protection, civic freedoms, and state accountability amid changing political dynamics in Kenya.
